Nevadan, conservative leader, and small business owner proudly serving Nevada’s 33rd Assembly District. First elected in 2022, Gurr represents a large rural district and has quickly established himself as a strong advocate for Nevada’s rural communities, economic growth, and common-sense governance. Background & Public Service Born in Roosevelt, Utah, in 1948 and raised in Nevada, Bert Gurr has spent decades building a life rooted in hard work, business experience, and community involvement. His background as a business owner gives him a practical, results-driven approach to policymaking—focused on reducing burdens on families and supporting job creation. Gurr, an avid hunter, also served the state on several wildlife advisory boards for more than 15 years and held leadership roles at the Nevada Association of Realtors for the last 40 years. In the Nevada Assembly, Gurr has served on key committees including Natural Resources and Growth and Infrastructure, where he has worked on issues impacting energy, land use, and rural development. Legislative Leadership & Key Issues Protecting Girls’ Sports Assemblyman Gurr has been a leading voice in Nevada on protecting fairness in women’s athletics. In 2023, he introduced AB374, legislation aimed at ensuring that school sports are separated based on biological sex. The bill ultimately did not receive a hearing in the Democrat-controlled legislature. In 2025, he continued that effort by sponsoring AB240, which would require schools to designate sports teams by sex and prohibit biological males from competing in girls’ sports. The Democrat-controlled legislature also refused to hold a hearing on the bill. Gurr has consistently framed this issue around fairness, safety, and equal opportunity for female athletes, making it a cornerstone of his legislative priorities. Fuel Resiliency & Energy Independence Assemblyman Gurr is also engaged in addressing one of Nevada’s most pressing long-term challenges: energy and fuel security. Personally appointed to Nevada’s Fuel Resiliency Committee by Governor Joe Lombardo, Gurr works alongside policymakers and stakeholders to examine how the state can reduce its heavy reliance on California for gasoline and fuel supply. With Nevada importing much of its fuel from California, Gurr has emphasized the importance of: Expanding in-state fuel storage and infrastructure Diversifying supply chains Strengthening emergency preparedness for fuel disruptions His work in this area reflects a broader commitment to making Nevada more self-reliant, protecting consumers from price volatility, and ensuring stability for businesses and families across the state. Supporting Governor Lombardo’s 2025 Agenda During the 2025 legislative session, Assemblyman Gurr was a consistent supporter of Governor Joe Lombardo’s pro-growth and pro-business agenda.
